Every garden should grow fruit, be it an apple or a pear tree, a few strawberries or a melon plant in the greenhouse. Do not be put off by pruning, you have time on your hands before the first fruits, train them to your desired shape and look forward to a glut of ripe summer fruits.

Orange Tree

Fruits such as sloes, blackberries and elderberries can be picked from the hedgerow, click on wild food for more information on what the countryside has to offer. Fruits are a versatile commodity in the kitchen, turned into thick jams and marmalades or preserved in our favourite alcohol.
We can churn them into an ice cream, bake them or, best of all, eaten as they are, warm from the sun and fresh from the branch
