Growing and cooking your own food is one of life’s great pleasures. As supermarkets stock fruit and vegetables year round with little regard for seasonality and taste and we, the consumer want our strawberries in winter then we lose sight of what is very important to us in the food chain.

The modern lifestyle we now lead is far removed from times past, we lead busy, often stressful lives with time constantly slipping away from us. Is it really worth the effort to grow some vegetables when the supermarkets offer so much choice?
I believe it is, to grow your own fruit or vegetables gives you, the cook and consumer, ultimate quality and freshness of produce and, importantly an understanding and respect for the food you grow.
